South Florida Business Revving Up the Golf Cart Game

On most golf courses, the typical golf cart is not much more than a plain, predictable ride—functional, but far from thrilling. These standard carts blend into the greens, offering little more than a slow, uninspired journey from one hole to the next. But Boca Raton’s South Florida Golf Carts is changing the game, by transforming ordinary rides into head-turning, stylish cruisers. Whether you’re rolling down the fairway or making a statement around town, their custom golf carts bring personality, luxury, and flair to every ride. Forget boring—this is how you ride in style.

“We do tons of repairs on golf carts,” said the owner of South Florida Golf Carts, Brad. “There are a lot of dealers out there selling, but not servicing, and we’re doing all that and more here.”

Once confined to the manicured greens of golf courses, golf carts have transformed remarkably, becoming a cultural and functional phenomenon in neighborhoods, resorts, and city streets. The rise of these pint-sized vehicles from recreational luxury to everyday necessity found its true momentum during the 2020 pandemic when the world redefined mobility, social interaction, and community living.

Before the pandemic, golf carts were symbols of leisurely afternoons and retirement communities, transporting sun-kissed golfers from hole to hole or shuttling residents in gated communities. However, as COVID-19 swept across the globe, these four-wheeled chariots of convenience found an unexpected role in mainstream society.

In communities where a quick trip to the store, park, or a friend’s driveway chat became the highlight of the day, golf carts provided a safe, open-air mode of travel that allowed people to maintain their distance while staying connected.

“That’s part of the problem where people just buy them cheap and it’s based on costs,” said Brad. “They don’t know the workings of the ins-and-outs of the cart, and too many dealers out there not servicing and I wanted to jump in.”

Coming from internet marketing for 18 years, Brad was inspired by a friend when he was visiting him in Plantation, Florida. They had a conversation, which later led to Brad buying a couple of golf carts in Davie, Florida, and after putting them in his garage he power-washed them and sold them.

“I did it a couple of more times,” said Brad.  “Even started working with a friend who knew mechanical work.”

Entrepreneurs seized the moment, converting golf carts into mobile businesses—from food and coffee carts to boutique mobile shops. Local delivery services saw an uptick in golf cart usage, efficiently navigating residential areas to drop off groceries, meals, and packages. Beach towns and suburban developments, already inclined toward alternative transportation, doubled down on their golf cart infrastructure, creating dedicated lanes and parking spaces to accommodate the surge.

However, across South Florida, it seems like golf carts are popping up for sale on every corner. Car dealerships are adding them to their lots, big-box retailers are advertising flashy models, and pop-up shops claim to have “the best deals in town.” But while many places are quick to sell a golf cart, few actually understand what keeps them running smoothly.

“People really need to consider where they’re buying them [golf carts] from,” said Brad. “People have to know where they can get their repairs, their parts, and more importantly, know what you’re buying, like how it operates, what can go wrong, and 80 percent of my business is service because people are not purchasing the right kind of carts.”

What happens when that brand-new cart starts making a strange noise? When the battery doesn’t hold a charge? When the tires wear unevenly, or the brakes don’t grip like they used to? Most sellers shrug, handing customers a generic pamphlet and directing them to someone else—someone who might not even specialize in golf carts.

“But we take care of you,” said Brad. “Our most popular is the Club Car. It’s made in America, and it has an aluminum frame, and the body kits and the upgrades are endless. If you want your golf cart to look unique and completely different, we’re the place to go to because we do full customizations here.”

That’s where South Florida Golf Carts stands apart. They’re not just another seller riding the wave of popularity—they’re the mechanics, the problem solvers, and the trusted experts who keep golf carts running like new. Unlike businesses that treat golf carts as just another product on the shelf, South Florida Golf Carts understands that these vehicles require proper care, expert repairs, and quality parts.

“I have five mechanics, a transport guy, and I’m managing about eight people daily,” said Brad. “We have some great guys who are really creative, like how a Rolls Royce can have a color roof, we just did that on a golf cart. I paint the bodies, I have a guy who does the seats, and if I can find something cool and different to put on the golf cart like even new LED lights, I’d definitely be trying it. Some people are even buying them on the spot.”

Carts that are polished exteriors gleaming like finely tuned sports cars. Chrome accents glint like jewelry, adding a refined touch to the sporty frame. Sleek curves and aerodynamic edges. Some seats, upholstered in pristine white leather, are masterpieces of craftsmanship. Supple and smooth, they contour to perfection, offering comfort fit for royalty.

“Most people come for the custom golf carts,” said Brad. “But the best job of this job is speaking and learning about new people and being involved in the community.”

Blending high-end design with ultimate functionality. Whether cruising through the emerald fairways or rolling up to a private clubhouse, these golf carts aren’t just vehicles—they’re statements of style, luxury, and exclusivity.

South Florida Golf Carts has also worked with HabCenter, a nonprofit that serves adults with lifelong developmental and intellectual disabilities.

“This project is a perfect example of what happens when businesses and nonprofits collaborate for a common good,” said Bryan Rammel of BR Consulting. “Seeing South Florida Golf Carts restore this golf cart for the HAB Center and knowing how much of an impact it will have on their daily operations is incredibly rewarding.”

At South Florida Golf Carts, the experience goes far beyond a simple sale. This is not just about getting from point A to point B—it’s about making an entrance, embracing luxury, helping the community, and riding with a personal touch. Whether it’s a sleek custom design that turns heads, a high-performance upgrade that enhances every drive, or expert repairs that keep your cart in top-tier condition, South Florida Golf Carts ensures that every journey is just as stylish as the destination.
